Privacy

Last updated [date]

Sezo is run by [operator name and address]. For questions or requests about your data, write to [contact email].

Without an account

Everything you track stays on your device: the shows you follow, the episodes you check and your backups. We never receive any of it.

Opening Sezo loads it from our server, and an installed copy checks there for updates. Our host logs your IP address and the addresses requested, as described under Server logs below.

To show episodes, schedules and artwork, your device asks TVmaze directly. TVmaze sees your device’s IP address, as any website would. Its own privacy policy applies to those requests.

With an account

A free account saves your progress on our server in [country and hosting provider], so your other devices can sync. We keep:

Your email address
To sign you in and to send password-reset links. Kept until you delete your account.
Your password, as a one-way hash
To check it’s you. We can’t read your password. Kept until you delete your account.
When you created the account and last signed in
For security and support. Kept until you delete your account.
The shows you follow and the episodes you checked, with their dates
To sync them between your devices. Stored as TVmaze ids. Kept until you remove them or delete your account. When you remove a show or uncheck an episode, we keep only its TVmaze id and when you removed it, so your other devices learn about it.
A session cookie named “sezo”
Keeps you signed in. It expires 180 days after you last use Sezo, or when you sign out.
Failed sign-ins, password-reset requests and new accounts: the IP address and email used
To stop password guessing and abuse. Deleted after one day.
Password-reset links
Stored only as a hash, valid for one hour, deleted the next day.

Server logs

Whether or not you have an account, our host records IP addresses and the addresses requested, to keep the service secure and fix problems. Kept for [log retention period].

We process this data because you asked for an account that syncs (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and, for the security records and logs, because of our legitimate interest in keeping accounts safe (Art. 6(1)(f)).

Usage statistics, only if you allow them

Sezo asks before it counts anything. If you choose Allow, it loads Google Analytics, which tells us how many people use Sezo and how. Google Analytics receives when you open Sezo and for how long, your type of device, browser and screen, your language, the site that sent you, and a rough location (country or city) worked out from your IP address; it doesn’t store the IP address itself. It never receives the shows you follow, the episodes you check, your email or anything else you keep in Sezo.

It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_ZMTSNCP0ZX, holding a random identifier; they expire after 13 months. Google keeps the statistics for 2 months. The service is provided by Google Ireland Limited; Google LLC in the United States may also process the data, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

We count visits only with your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). If you choose Don’t allow, Google Analytics never loads. You can change your choice at any time in Profile → Usage statistics; turning it off stops the counting and removes the cookies.

What we don’t do

No advertising, and we never sell your data. We share it only as this notice describes: your device asks TVmaze for show data, and Google Analytics counts visits if you allow it. The only cookies are the session cookie above, which is strictly necessary, and Google Analytics’ two cookies, set only after you allow them.
